09:39 Hours    Engine 25 was dispatched with Ladder 20, Squad 22 and Engine 31 on the cross-response for the automatic alarm at 108 Terrace Drive, the Lackawanna County Health Care, Peckville. The Blakely PD on-scene reported burnt toast and no fire. Command held all companies and Car 20 went in on the investigation.  (120)

 

Monday, August 18

 

13:56 Hours    Engine 25 was dispatched on the structure box/manual pull station in place of E 26-2 OOS for 1175 Mid-Valley Drive in Olyphant. Command on scene reported a possible freezer motor malfunction and had all companies except Ladder 20 come in at a reduced rate. E 25 took the hydrant in front of the facility at Mid-Valley Drive. After the investigation command released E 25.  (119)

17:01 Hours    Rescue 25 was special called along with Rescues 23 and 31 to assist Station 26 on the yellow cloud of smoke with a sulphuric acid smell released from the Warren Diamond building on Lackawanna Avenue in the Mid-Valley Industrial Park. The rescues were staged at the CINRAM entrance road. Station 26 crews and EMA investigated and plant personnel stated it was a normal operational release from the facility. All special called units were returned by command while 26 units further investigated the scene with DEP and EMA. (118)

 

Thursday, August 14

 

01:48 Hours    Engine 25 was dispatched on the structure box in place of E 26-2 OOS for the porch on fire at 831 East Pine Street. While assembling a crew command on-scene canceled all units except E 26-4 already on the way. (116)

 

06:38 Hours    Rescue 25 and BLS 25-9 was dispatched to assist Station 23 on the MVA in the 700 Block of Pancoast Street in Dickson City. While assembling both units were canceled by command. (117)

 

Monday, August 11

 

17:47 Hours    Stations 25 and 31 were dispatched for a multi-vehicle accident with injuries south of the Marshwood Road intersection with PA 247, Marshwood Road. Area 29 was initially dispatched and on arrival notified communications the call was in Area 25. On arrival of 25 units they determined the call was actually in Area 26. BLS 29-9 already had one victim in the ambulance ready for transport. BLS 25-9 took the second patient after full immobilization. Command 29 turned over the scene to Command 31 returned Rescue 29 and Rescue 31. Rescue 25 stabilized the vehicles and took over traffic control from 29 Fire Police and assisted with the vehicle removals and scene stabilization.  (115)

Saturday, August 9

 

11:47 Hours    Rescue 25 was dispatched for the possible assist to Ambulance 25-9 for a medical call at 186 Constitution Avenue for lifting. The rescue was not needed and it was placed back into service by EMS command. (113)

 

15:18 Hours    Stations 25 and 31 were dispatched for the automatic heat duct alarm at MTF, 1232 Mid-Valley Drive. Crews on-scene investigated and nothing was found. The crews waited until maintenance was able to reset the alarms. (114

Wednesday, August 6

 

05:26 Hours    Engine 25, Rescue 31 and Ambulance 25-9 were dispatched on the investigation for the smoke alarm activation in the basement of 805 Church Street. On arrival the crews used the thermal imager to check the basement. Nothing out of the ordinary was found and the highest heat detected was 70 degrees near the furnace. The homeowner had replaced the battery in the detector and it still alarmed. The unit was over five years old and in a wet atmosphere. The new detector had also been purchased a while ago and the box it was in was dampness. (111)

 

19:31 Hours    Rescue 25 was dispatched along with EMS for the stand-by for the possible assist to the Jessup Police on a forcible entry at 601 Clarkson Avenue. The PD gained entry and cancelled rescue and EMS.  (112)

 

Tuesday, August 5

 

06:50 Hours    Rescue 25 and 31 and BLS 25-9 and 25-9 were dispatched for the MVA with minor injuries at the end of the US 6 eastbound off-ramp at PA 247. On arrival both drivers were out of the vehicles and there were no fluids down. Both drivers refused treatment and all units were put back into service by command. (110)

10:28 Hours     Engine 25 was dispatched in place of Engine 26-2 on the automatic alarm at 128 Lackawanna Avenue, the 1st Liberty Bank, in Olyphant with Station 26 and Ladder 20. While assembling a crew the alarm company called back with the false alarm cancellation. All companies except Engine 26-1 were returned by command. (109)

 

Friday, August 1

 

13:47 Hours    Ladder 20, Squad 22 and Engines 25 and 31 were dispatched to the Laurels at Mid-Valley, 85 Sturgis Road in Area 20 for the automatic alarm/pull station. Command arrived on-scene to find a fire drill in progress with no fire. All units were returned to service.  (108)

09:46 Hours    Engines 25 and 31 along with Ladder 20 and Squad 22 were dispatched for the automatic alarm in Area 20 at the Valley View Elementary Center, 901 Main Street in Peckville. Captain 20 on-scene stated there was no fir and returned all units.  (107)

 

Tuesday, July 22

 

03:03 Hours    Stations 25 and 31 were dispatched to establish the landing zone safety team at the Lackawanna County Emergency Services Building for the Life Flight landing for a patient from Area 21. Area 21 EMS had a patient with a severe femur fracture that was to be flown to Philadelphia.  (106)

 

Wednesday, July 16

 

21:15 Hours    Station 25 was requested by the Jessup Police Department to assist with a tractor stuck under the railroad viaduct at Constitution Avenue near Delaware Street. The engine and rescue crew provided scene lighting and deflated the tires to allow the tractor to move out from the bridge. The crews then re-inflated the tires and assist the tow operator in removing the vehicle from the scene that was impounded by the police.   (105)

 

Sunday, July 13

 

08:19 Hours    Stations 25 and 31 were dispatched to assist BLS 25-8 previously dispatched to 1308 Winton Road in Archbald. After the EMS dispatch Chief 25 notified communications via 911 that the incident was in Area 21. Area 21/33 units were dispatched and 25/31 units canceled. BLS 25-8 was already responding and due to the condition of the patient on arrival they transported the patient with Lackawanna medics on board.   (102)

 

20:55 Hours    Rescues 25 and 31 were dispatched for the occupants of the vehicle trapped in high water at the intersection of Hill and Basalyga Streets. Prior to the fire department arrival the occupants were removed from the vehicle. Rescue 25 went available and was dispatched for flooding at 805 Church Street.  (103)

 

21:02 Hours    Rescue 25 responded to 805 Church Street for the flooded basement. On arrival there was no water in the house but the drainage ditch on side "D" was at bank full but receding. No fire department action was needed.  (104)

Thursday, July 10

 

09:59 Hours    Engine 25 was dispatched on the general fire alarm structure box with Ladder 20, Engines 31 and 33 and Squad 22 to the Peckville Assembly of God Church. While assembling a crew command was notified they were testing the alarm. Command held all companies at station and went on the investigation. All units were returned to service when the testing was confirmed.  (101)

 

Wednesday, July 9

 

19:27 Hours    Stations 25 and 31 were dispatched for the automatic general fire alarm at McLane Industries, 43 Valley View Business Park. On arrival Chief 25 was notified by security the power to the building had been cut by maintenance to change a switch and the fire alarm had not been taken out of service. The alarm was placed in tests and all units were returned.  (100)

 

Tuesday, July 8

 

18:42 Hours    The Station 25 crew was requested to respond to the station to load absorbents from the county stockpile onto the Jessup Borough DPW truck for an oil leak from 1st Avenue to Powell Avenue on PA 247/Church Street in the southbound lane. The crew loaded twenty 40 lb. bags and assisted with spreading the material. Chief 25, Brush 25 and Rescue 25 responded.  (099)

 

Friday, July 4

22:03 Hours    Station 25 was requested by 51 EMS to respond with Quad 25 and a thermal imager camera to assist in the search for a male bitten by a snake in the woods off of Salem Mountain Road. While the crew was hooking the Quad trailer to Brush 25 the crews were canceled by Command; the male was found.  (098)

09:43 Hours    Engines 25 and 31 were added to the gas leak box along with Ladder 20 and Squad 22 in the 200 block of Hickory Street in Peckville when Chief 20 upgraded the call to a full box for the gas natural leak. Engine 25 staged at the hydrant at Hickory and Bridge.  (095)

Sunday, June 29

 

13:58 Hours    Rescue 25 was requested by 25 EMS to respond QRS to 11 Alberigi Drive at BAE systems for a male with chest pain while BLS 25-9 was on a call and BLS 25-8 was OOS mechanical. The rescue was canceled prior to responding.  (093)

 

21:44 Hours    Rescue 25 responded QRS for a medical call to 136 River Street while BLS 25-9 was on a call in Area 29 and BLS 25-8 was OOS mechanical. Rescue 25 assisted BLS 21-9 and Lackawanna 17 on the medical emergency.  (094)

 

Friday, June 27

 

03:32 Hours    Jessup PD requested FD response for a cube truck leaking fluids from the box.  Rescue 25 went to the scene and spread absorbents on the leak covering an area of approximately 20' wide by 75 long with additional drip spots. After applying absorbents the PD had the vehicle removed from the scene and the rescue crew did additional scene stabilization. (092)

 

Wednesday, June 25

 

17:58 Hours    Lackawanna 911 dispatched Stations 25 and 31 for the MVA- vehicle over the embankment with injuries at Jessup Auto, Moosic Lake Road. On arrival of the PD they were informed that during a domestic dispute the owner of one of the vehicles at the repair facility used his vehicle to push another unoccupied vehicle over the embankment. There was no patient and the vehicles were both on private property. All units were returned to service by command.  (091)

 

Tuesday, June 24

 

16:25 Hours    Stations 25 and 31 along with EMS and Ladder 20 and E26-4 were dispatched on the automatic alarm at 1206 Tonwin Street. Chief 25 arrived on-scene and was informed by the resident that he had accidentally tripped the alarm when opening the back sliding door. Command ordered all units back in service. (090)

 

Thursday, June 12

 

10:49 Hours    Stations 25 and 31 were dispatched for McLane Industries at 43 Valley View Business Park on the automatic fire alarm. While enroute Command was notified the JPD were on scene stating the alarm was in test mode and could not be shut down. Crews responded non-emergent and assisted in shutting down the system.  (087)

 

15:26 Hours    Stations 25 and 31 were dispatched to 9 Alberigi Drive to Versus Partners for the waterflow alarm. On arrival nothing was seen and after the investigation the companies returned to service.  (088)

 

20:55 Hours    Stations 25 and 31 were dispatched on the automatic general fire alarm to MTF Corporation at 1232 Mid-Valley Drive. On arrival the alarm was showing Heat Exchanger 4 trouble. The Engine 25 crew checked the duct with the thermal imager. No readings detected. All units except Engine 25 were put in service by command while they waited for the building manager to arrive. The alarm was taken out of service by the owner.   (089)

 

Tuesday, June 10

 

20:10 Hours    Stations 25 and 31 were dispatched for the wires down across the roadway at 1369 Winton Road. Crews found the service had pulled off the house and were hanging ten feet above the roadway. PPL was notified and the road barricaded at High Street and West Winthrop Street.  (085)

 

20:25 Hours    While operating at incident #085 crews were informed of a large tree down across the roadway with electric line involvement at Depot Street between the railroad tracks and River Street. PPL was notified and Depot and Breaker Streets were clo0sed from Hill Street to River Street.  (086)

 

Saturday, June 7

 

09:38 Hours    Stations 25 and 31 were dispatched for the automatic alarm, CO2 system activation in the chemical room at BAE Enterprises, 9 Alberigi Drive. Command 25 on-scene was notified by plant personnel the system did activate. Command had Engine 31 conduct a search of the structure to assure everyone had been evacuated and the Engine 25/Rescue 25 crews investigated the chemical rooms and system with the thermal imager and 4 gas meters. Nothing out of the ordinary was found but the system in the chemical room had discharged and was reading zero. The facilities manager contacted the fire suppression system installer to re-activate the system and contacted the alarm company to take the system out of service until it is repaired.   (083)

 

17:29 Hours    Stations 25 and 31 were dispatched for the head on MVA at 10 Hill Street, in front of Cousin's Market. On arrival of BLS 25-8 from another call the occupant/driver of vehicle one is still in the vehicle but unhurt. The occupants of vehicle two were out of the vehicle. There was no entrapment or fluids down and all victims signed AMA. Subsequently the occupants of vehicle two requested transport to Mid-Valley Hospital for an evaluation.  (084)

 

Friday, June 6

 

17:34 Hours    Stations 25 and 31 were dispatched for a two vehicle MVA in front of Cousin's Convenient at 10 Hill Street. On arrival Command found a T-bone accident at High and Basalyga with one operator in the vehicle and one out of the vehicle. Crews stabilized the vehicles and after packaging the operator removed him from the vehicle for transport to Mid-Valley Hospital.  (082)

 

Sunday, June 1

 

03:01 Hours    Rescue 25 was dispatched on the reported structure fire in Area 27 at 518 George Street in place of Rescue 23 dispatched to Old Forge on the working fire. Command on scene reported a chimney fire and had all units except Ladder 20 continue in. Rescue 25 was canceled as it was approaching the scene. (081)

Saturday, May 31

18:27 Hours    Rescue 25 was dispatched on the second alarm to Area 14 for the structure fire. Prior to responding command reported the fire under control and venting taking place and all second alarm units not on the road were canceled. The rescue was pulling out of the station at the time. Friday, May 30

 

23:38 Hours    Stations 25 and 31 were dispatched on the assist to the JPD for a beer party campfire off of Breaker Street in the mine reclamation area. Brush 25 was dispatched but was OOS so Engine 25 responded. The area was not accessible with the engine so EMS LT. 25-B took the firefighters into the scene in his personnel vehicle. They used a water can and pike pole for extinguishment. All other units were returned to service. (079)

 

Wednesday, May 28

 

10:43 Hours    Stations 25 and 31 were dispatched on the automatic fire alarm, duct detector, to 1232 Mid-Valley Drive, MTF Corporation. On arrival Engine 25 found that building maintenance was changing the HEPA filters in the duct that activated the alarm. There was no fire.  (078)

 

Monday, May 26

 

15:11 Hours    Engine 25, Rescue 31 and Brush 26 (in place of Brush 25 OOS-mechanical)  were dispatched to the rear of the Cinram Warehouse on Mid-Valley Drive for the brush fire. Engine 26-4 was on the road located the fire off of Lackawanna Avenue in Olyphant and handled the call with Brush 26. All 25 and 31 units were returned to service.  (076)

 

16:26 Hours    Engines 25 and 31 along with Stations 20 and 22 were dispatched on the structure box for the porch on fire at 204 Josephine Street. Rescue 25 was on the road for fuel and was three blocks away and took in the box. The crew used a 1 3/4" line for fire extinguishment. Station 20 and 22 units checked for extension and all other units were returned by Command 20.  (077)

 

Thursday, May 22

 

08:34   Hours    Rescue 25 was dispatched as the RIT to Area 59 along with Station 59 and Ladder 58 for the activated smoke detector. Command on scene reported cooking on the stove set off the alarm and returned all units.  (073)

 

08:47 Hours    Engine 25 along with Engine20 and 31, Squad 22 and Ladder 58 and EMS were dispatched for the report of smoke coming from the window at 200 Main Street in Peckville. A firefighter on scene reported a ruptured steam pipe below the window and command had Engine 20 go on the investigation and all other units cancel.  (074)

 

15:05 Hours    Stations 25 and 31 were dispatched for the automatic sprinkler alarm at 1270 Mid-Valley Drive. On arrival command was notified maintenance was working on the system and it was reported to the alarm company to keep it out of service until 15:00. There was no fire and all units were returned by command.  (075)

14:54 Hours    Engine 20, Engine 25 and Engine 31 along with Ladder 58 and Squad 22 and EMS were dispatched to 100 Railroad Avenue in Peckville at the Blakely  High Rise for the smoke report. Command on-scene reported a light smoke condition and returned all companies except Engine 20.  (072)

 

 Friday, May 16

 

09:23 Hours    Rescue 25 and 26 along with 25-9 and 25-8 were dispatched for a single vehicle MVA with injuries on PA 247 above the intersection with Marshwood Road. On arrival the crews found the single occupant outside of the vehicle into the woods. There was no entrapment or fluids down and BLS 25-9 transported. (071)

 

Tuesday, May 13

 

04:18 Hours    Rescue 25 was dispatched along with Station 59 and Ladder 58 as the RIT for smoke coming from the roof at 712 Lackawanna Avenue in Mayfield. Prior to going enroute command reported the smoke was coming from a chimney in the rear of the structure. There was no fire and all units were placed back into service.  (070)

21:35 Hours    Stations 25 and 31 were dispatched for a fuel spill from an overfill at the pumps at Cousin's Market at 10 Hill Street. The crews used 15 pounds of absorbent to pick up the product.  (069)

 

 

Saturday, May 10

 

02:13 Hours    Stations 25 and 31 were dispatched at the request of the Jessup PD for the smell of smoke in the 300 block of Church Street. The crews searched a 6 square block area and could not find anything out of the ordinary. After 20 minutes command returned all units. There was heavy fog and light wind at the time.  (068)

 

Wednesday, May 7

 

19:44 Hours    Stations 25 and 31 were dispatched for the MVA with injuries at Church Street and Second Avenue. Command 31 on scene reported no entrapment or fluids down and possible 3 refusals and canceled the rescue companies. BLS 25-9 went in to obtain the three refusals. (067)

Thursday, May 1

 

16:57 Hours    Stations 20 and 22 along with Engines 25 and 31 and Ladder 23 were dispatched by Lackawanna County Communications on the water flow alarm/ structure box at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue in Peckville. While the crews were assembling command was notified a sprinkler head had been hit and broken off of the supply pipe. Command 20 held Engines 25 and 31 and Ladder 23 at station and Squad 22 and Engine 20 went in on the investigation.   (066)

Wednesday, April 30

 

16:10 Hours    Stations 25 and 31 were dispatched for an MVA with injuries at Exit 3 of US 6. Chief 31 arrived on scene to find the medical emergency with the car pulled over to the side, no MVA; the location was in front of the Jessup Borough sign headed eastbound. Station 26 units were notified and Command 26 held all 26 units. Rescue 25 and BLS 25-8 with the assistance of a Honesdale BLS unit on scene packaged the patient and placed her in 25-8 for transport to Moses Taylor Hospital with the Lackawanna Medics. (066)

Monday, April 28

 

 10:51 Hours    Stations 25 and 31 along with EMS were dispatched on a stand-by at the request of the police during a search for a bomb threat at 11 Alberigi Drive at BAE Systems. The facility was searched by bomb dogs and nothing was found. All units returned to service at 12:17 hours.   (064)

 

Saturday, April 26

 

11:56 Hours    Stations 25 and 31 were dispatched for paper in a barrel on fire at Scranton Cooperage, 1264 Mid-Valley Drive. Command on scene reported a large number of plastic and fiberboard barrels involved. Ladder 20 and Engine 26-4 were requested for an aerial attack and water supply. Engines 21-1 and 26-1 were requested for manpower. BLS 21-8 and 21-9 along with Station 59 Rehab and Field Comm 29 were also dispatched for rehab of the crews and Air Supply 27 was requested to re-fill a large number of spent cylinders. Also on scene was Lackawanna EMA, Pa DEP and Datom Products (HAZMAT Team)  (063)

 

Friday, April 25

 

02:48 Hours    Rescue 25 was dispatched with Stations 20 and 22 along with Rescue 23 for the vehicle fire with exposure problems at 312 Fourth Street in Blakely. Command on scene stated there were no exposure problems and canceled all units except Squad 22 and Rescue 23 on scene.  (061)

 

09:40 Hours    Rescue 25 was dispatched on the structure box with Stations 59 and Ladder 58 for smoke in the structure at 710 Delaware Street in Mayfield. Command on scene stated a furnace malfunction filled the residence with smoke and cancelled all units except Station 59 apparatus.  (062)

 

Saturday, April 19

 

11:28 Hours    Brush 25 was requested by command for a brush fire off of Park Street in Olyphant. Brush 25 provided fire attack from North Valley Avenue and was on-scene for 1 hour and twenty minutes.  (058)

 

17:30 Hours    Brush 25 was dispatched to assist Area 21 and Forestry on a large brush fire along US 6 above Exit 4 in the area of the third dam. The unit used 1 1/2 inch lines and tank water for fire extinguishment.  (059)

 

19:48 Hours    After just returning from Area 21 Brush 25 was dispatched to Area 27 to assist on a large fire off of Underwood Road. The crew used chainsaws for access and 1 1/2 inch lines for extinguishment.  (060)

21:29 Hours    Brush 25 was dispatched in place of Brush 26 out of service for a brush fire on Stanton Drive in Olyphant. On dispatch command informed communications Brush 26 was in service and to cancel Brush 25.     (057)

 

Wednesday, April 16

 

07:58 Hours    Stations 25 and 31 were dispatched for the MVA with injuries on US 6 westbound at PA 247. Due to an error in location, Station 26 units were originally dispatched and were arriving on scene when the 25 and 31 units were dispatched. The lone occupant of the vehicle initially refused treatment and then decided to be transported by EMS. All 25 units except 25-9 remained at station. BLS 25-9 was canceled by BLS 26-9 since there was only one patient.  (056)

 

Saturday, April 12

 

22:44 Hours    Rescue 25 was dispatched as the RIT on the structural box with Station 59 and Ladder 58 to 605 Chestnut Street, Mayfield. While Rescue 25 was responding Command 59 found a problem with the electrical outlet to the dryer and no smoke condition and returned all units to service.  (055)

 

Thursday, April 10

 

22:57 Hours    Rescue 25, 31 and EMS 25-8 were dispatched to the 900 block of Spring Street for the person hit by the vehicle. On arrival at the location the victim had left the scene. The JPD found the subject on Lawler Drive. He was refusing treatment and signed AMA. Command returned all rescues as there was no debris or vehicle.  (054)

 

Wednesday, April 9

 

09:55 Hours     Stations 25 and 31 along with Ladder 23 and Engine 26-4 along with EMS were dispatched to 210 Church Street, First Liberty Bank, on the automatic structural alarm. Chief 25 B on scene reported nothing showing from the exterior and held the out of town units at there stations. The crew did an investigation and nothing was found. The alarm was re-set and all companies were returned to service  (052)

 

18:13 Hours    Rescue 25 and 31 along with EMS were dispatched for the female pedestrian struck by the hit and run vehicle. On arrival Chief 25-A found the female sitting in a chair on the sidewalk. There was no need for rescue since the vehicle had left the scene and there was no debris and Command canceled the rescues. EMS transported the victim to Mid-Valley Hospital   (053)

02:06 Hours    Rescues 25 and 31 along with 25-8 and 25-9 were dispatched for the two vehicle MVA with no injuries or entrapment, but the pregnant driver was unable to exit the vehicle on her own. Chief 25 opened the door by utilizing the door handle and the patient was able to leave the vehicle on her own.  (051)

15:36 Hours    Rescue25 was on the box with Area 20 and 22 and Rescue 23 for the porch on fire at 710 West Grant Street in Blakely. Command on scene stated a small fire under the porch that was out. All units placed back in service. (049)

 

21:02 Hours    Stations 25 and 31 were dispatched for a possible fire in the rear of Fastenall on Mid-Valley Drive. After an investigation nothing was found and all units were placed back in service.  (050)

13:05 Hours    Station 25 was dispatched along with Stations 20, 22 and 31 for the automatic residential fire alarm at 138 Main Street, Peckville. All units were held at station, the alarm company was working on the system.  (048)

Monday, March 31

 

01:53 Hours    Station 25 was dispatched on the second alarm to 1500 Main Street, Peckville for the structure fire  at Fiorelli's Catering. The crew was assigned as water supply and layed 5" supply line from the Blakely Borough Hall hydrant to the fire and then was assigned to staging.  (047)

Thursday, March 27

 

17:23 Hours    Stations 25 and 31 were dispatched by Communications for smoke in the gully off of US 6 eastbound. On arrival Chief 25 found a sectional couch unit on fire in the roadway. Command placed all units except Brush 25 in service. Brush 25 responded and used a 1" line to extinguish the fire.  (046)

17:37 Hours    Stations 25 and 31 along with EMS were dispatched to US 6 between Exits 3 and 4 westbound for the vehicle into the guiderail with injuries on US 6. The exact location was unknown and Station 21 EMS was originally dispatched. Since the number or extent of injuries was unknown, on the Station 25/31 dispatch Chief 25 informed communications to have 21 respond with one BLS until the number of injuries was known. On arrival of Chief 25 there was one minor injury and one refusal. BLS 21-9 took the patient, Cottage ALS obtained the AMA and the rescue crews were assigned to traffic and scene control. (044)

 

23:18 Hours    Rescue 25 was special called on the multiple alarm structure fire to act as the RIT at Highway Auto on the Eynon-Jermyn Road. A large garage was involved and numerous tankers were called for water supply. (045)

21:22 Hours    Stations 25 and 31 were dispatched for a brush fire off of Barrett Street. Lt 25A arrived on-scene to find a 20 X 30 X 25 foot pile of brush and tree cuttings and construction debris off of the Mid-Valley Drive cul-de-sac below Lockheed Martin. The Jessup DPW was special called for the backhoe to rip the pile apart. Four loads of water from Brush 25 and Engines 25 and 31 were used to extinguish the fire. (043)

02:38 Hours    Stations 25 and 31 were dispatched for the automatic alarm at 9 Alberigi Drive. On arrival of Chief 25 nothing was shown. The crews used the Knox keys from E 25 and BLS 25-8 to access both sides of the building. After the investigation nothing was found and all units were put back in service by Command. The keyholder was told to respond to re-set the system.  (041)

 

05:38 Hours    Stations 25 and 31 were dispatched again for an automatic alarm at 9 Alberigi Drive. On arrival of Chief 25 nothing was showing. Workers were starting their shift in the A/B side occupancy and were evacuated by the FD. The crews investigated both sides of the structure and nothing was found. Command placed all units in service and waited for the keyholder. After investigating with the keyholder the alarm was placed out of service by the owner.  (042)

20:33 Hours    Rescue 25 was requested by BLS 25-9 for a lift assist at 122 Buttonwood Street. The rescue and off-duty crews responded for the assist.  (039)

 

23:47 Hours    Stations 25 and 31 along with EMS were requested by the Jessup PD for a search for a lost female along Sunnyside Road. The only location given was the first pole line off of US 6. Crews from 25 and 31 on quads along with off-road vehicles from the Jessup, Blakely and Throop Police Departments searched along the pole lines. The female was eventually located at the intersection of PA 247 and 348 in Jefferson Township. EMS 21 and 29 along with the 54 FD K-nine unit were placed on standby for quads, field com and dogs respectively but were canceled prior to deployment as the victim was found.  (040)

 

Friday, March 21

 

22:32 Hours    Stations 25 and 31 were dispatched at the request of the JPD for a possible brush fire on the north side of the westbound US 6. Chief 25 met with the PD and directed Brush 25 to access the fire on the steel pole lines and for Engine 25 to stage on Breaker Street. While responding the roadway gave out under Brush 25 and it had to be winched out of the hole. Due to the confined nature and location of the fire it was a possible beer party and since Brush 25 was unable to access the area Command placed all units back in service.  (038)

 

Thursday, March 20

 

09:41 Hours    Stations 25 and 31 along with Ladder 20, Engine 26-4 and 25 EMS were dispatched for the automatic fire alarm at 1st Liberty Bank, 210 Church Street. Lt 31-A found nothing showing on arrival and held the out of town units. On arrival the bank manager informed Chief 25-B (Command 25) the employees smelled smoke earlier in the morning but could not find anything. The crew from Rescue 25 investigated all three divisions and nothing out of the ordinary was found. All units were placed back in service by Command at 10:09 hours.  (037)

12:12 Hours    Rescue 25 was dispatched in place of Rescue 27 on the Automatic alarm at Uno Chicago Grill, 3905 Commerce Boulevard, Dickson City with Stations 23 and 27. 09:43 Hours    Rescue 25 was dispatched along with Engine 31 and Stations 20 and 22 on the automatic alarm activation at 1610 Pennsylvania Avenue in Peckville. Rescue 25 was assigned the hydrant and the crew was ordered by Command to Division 2 to check the heating units for any problems. Upon investigation the alarm was a water flow alarm but no problems were found. All units were returned by Command  (033)

15:04 Hours    Stations 25 and 31 were dispatched for the smell of smoke in the vicinity of Kinback and River Streets. On investigation Chief 31 found an illegal burn in the trash can on Morgan Street. The homeowner was advised such burning is illegal and to extinguish the fire.  (031)

11:13 Hours    Stations 25 and 31 were dispatched to 506 4th Avenue for the car through the garage wall. The car went through from the property on Sturgis Street and struck the propane tank for the pool in the yard on 4th Avenue. 00:02 Hours    Stations 25 and 31 were dispatched for the MVA at PA 247 Moosic Lake Road and Marshwood Road. PD on scene reported that the accident was at the old "Dip" on PA 247 in Area 29. Area 25/31 units were canceled and Area 29 units dispatched. The Lackawanna Medic unit on scene reported the patient was refusing treatment and Area 29 units canceled.  (026)

13:32 Hours    Stations 25 and 31 along with EMS were dispatched for the activated CO alarm with no symptoms on scene. On arrival the Rescue 25 made entry and found CO levels of 10 ppm in the basement and 16ppm on the second floor. PG Energy was called. The crew ventilated the home and with the gas company searched for the problem. A problem with the heating system was found. The Rescue 25 and EMS 25 crews were released by the gas company.   (024)

09:59 Hours    Stations 25 and 31 were dispatched for the water flow alarm at 14-20 Alberigi Drive, the Miracle Building. On arrival Chief 25-b had nothing showing. The PA American water company was working on the pump station across the street and there was a momentary loss of water pressure which activated the system sensor. Monday, February 18

 

06:46 Hours    Stations 25 and 31 were dispatched for the single vehicle MVA with injuries on US 6 eastbound on the overpass with PA 247. On arrival one occupant had self-extricated and did not have any medical complaints. The EMS crew established he did not want care and signed AMA. The driver was complaining of neck and back pain. The Rescue stabilized the vehicle and assisted the EMS crews with C-spine stabilization and packaging and extrication of the driver for transport to Mercy Hospital.   (021)

 

16:00 Hours    Rescue 25 and Engine 31 responded on the structure box cross-response with Stations 20 and 22 to 123 Electric Street in Peckville. The Rescue 25 crew was assigned Division 2 to check for extension and to ventilate the area. The crew used the thermal imager and did not find any fire extension but encountered a high heat condition on the floor. The Ladder 20 crew assisted the rescue in ventilating the Second Floor.  (022)

Tuesday, February 12

 

16:29 Hours    Rescues 25 and 31 and along with Ambulances 25-8 and 25-9 were dispatched for a single vehicle MVA with injuries at the request of the Jessup PD on scene at Constitution Avenue and Lane Street. The vehicle hit the stone wall and spun to face the wrong way in the lane on Constitution Avenue. The driver self extricated and complained of rib pain. The passenger had no injuries and signed AMA. The Rescue crew packaged the patient and transferred him to BLS 25-8 for transport to Mid-Valley Hospital.   (020)

15:56 Hours    Stations 25 and 31 were dispatched for the MVA rollover with injuries on the LVIH. Upon arriving on scene, command found the patient out of the vehicle in another car due to the cold weather. The vehicle was secured, road cleared of debris, and assisted the patient into 25-9.  (019)

02:32 Hours    Stations 25 and 31 were dispatched for the sprinkler head broken at 1225 Mid-Valley Drive, Fastenal. Chief 25 and Rescue 25 arrived to find the in-line rack system head broken on side D. The Chief shut down the system and the Rescue 25 crew plugged the pipe to stop the leak. The system was re-activated and the plant manager was notified to have their sprinkler company replace the head. (018)

Monday, February 4

10:33 Hours    Rescue 25 was dispatched on the pull station fire alarm at the Mayfield Elementary Center, 501 Linden Street in Mayfield with Stations 58 and 59. Command was notified by Communications the school called in with the false alarm, a child pulled the alarm. Rescue 25 was held at station by command. (016)

10:52 Hours    Stations 25 and 31 were dispatched  for the activated commercial fire alarm at 1240 Mid-Valley Drive, Penske Truck. On arrival the Rescue 25 crew was notified by the owner the smoke from a bad injector in a truck being repaired set off the alarm. There was no fire and all companies were put back into service.   (017)

Sunday, February 3

07:55  Hours    Stations 25 and 31 were dispatched for the smell of natural gas in the 300 block of Grassy Island Avenue. On arrival the smell was found to be coming from the rear of 311 Grassy Island Avenue. UGI found the leak and repaired it. The Rescue 25 crew vented the residence.  (013)

12:24 Hours    Rescue 25 was dispatched on the general fire alarm at 1300 Plank Road with Stations 58 and 59. Rescue 25 was held at station by command; upon the investigation nothing was found and Rescue 25 was released. (014)

Thursday, January 31

21:42  Hours    Stations 25 and 31 were dispatched for the smell of smoke in the area of Second Avenue and Hand Street. Several wood burners and fireplaces were operational and there was an air inversion. No uncontrolled fire was found and all units were placed back into service.  (12)

 

Tuesday, January 29

18:38 Hours    Stations 25 and 31 were dispatched for the electric wires burning on the residence at 805 Court Street. ON arrival the crews found the service wires burning at the junction with the distribution wires on the street. The crews extinguished the service wires with a dry chemical extinguisher after the wires burned free. After an investigation of the situation by the PPL trouble man the crews were released.  (011)

00:36 Hours    Rescue 25 was dispatched on the structure box for the general fire alarm at the Mid-Valley Elementary Center, 50 Underwood Road in Throop. Upon an investigation an electrical burning odor was detected in the boiler room; nothing was found and the rescue was returned by command. (010)

17:25 Hours    Stations 25 and 31 were dispatched for a basement filling with smoke, possible furnace fire. Chief 25-A on scene reported an overheated furnace smoking, no fire visible. The companies set-up ventilation to remove the smoke from the residence and shut down the system until repairs could be made.  (009)

10:20 Hours    Engine 25, Brush 25 and Rescue 31 were dispatched for the flooded basement at 513 1st Avenue. Chief 25B on scene reported a broken water pipe put 6 to 8 inches of water on the floor. The water company was notified and the Jessup DPW assisted the homeowner in clean-up. All units were held at station by Command.  (008)

Sunday, January 20

17:07 Hours    Stations 25 and 31 were dispatched for a report of a propane cylinder on fire at the construction site at 43 Valley View Business Park. On arrival of Rescue 25 the security guard stated he saw flames around a propane cylinder at the rear of the property. On investigation the crews from Engines 25 and 31 found a propane open flame heater being used to keep the sand pile for masonry work being heated by the torch. With the wind conditions the flame was being blown out of the enclosure and impinging on the cylinders. The crews shut down the gas and removed the heating unit.   (007)

Thursday, January 17

21:454 Hours   Stations 25 and 31 along with EMS were dispatched for an MVA with a vehicle into the guide rail on fire at the intersection of Hill Street and Powell Avenue. On arrival the crews found a two vehicle head-on MVA with an engine compartment fire in one vehicle. All occupants were out of both vehicles. The Rescue 25 crew extinguished the fire and stabilized the scene while the crews from Ambulances 25-8 and 25-9 treated and transported the occupants.  (006)

17:31 Hours    Engine 25 was dispatched in place of Engine 20 on the automatic alarm at 100 Railroad Street, Peckville at the Blakely High Rise with Stations 20 and 22. While responding Command reported burnt food on the stove and canceled Engine 25.  (005)

Wednesday, January 9

02:06 Hours    Stations 25 and 31 were dispatched for an MVA involving one occupied vehicle, two parked cars and two homes. The vehicle hit the house at 1000 Constitution, two parked vehicles in the driveway and then the house at 998 Constitution. The lone occupant, the driver refused medical care. The crews cleared the large debris field and assisted with the tow. (003)

20:10 Hours    Rescue 25 was dispatched as the Quick Response Unit for the medical call while Ambulance 25-9 was on another call and Ambulance 25-8 was out of service mechanical. EMS 21 was dispatched along with a Lackawanna Medic unit to the call. On arrival of Rescue 25 the patient was already loaded in Ambulance 21-9. The Rescue was placed back in service. (004)

Monday, January 7

18:01 Hours    Stations 25 and 31 were dispatched for the flooded basement at 320 Hill Street with 2 to 3 feet of water.  Chief 25 arrived on scene and found 3 feet of water encroaching on the gas furnace. All units with the exception of Brush 25 were canceled and Brush 25 responded with a 3" portable pump to drain the basement. The Borough DPW crew was also requested to the check the sewers in the area and assisted with de-watering the basement. While on this call the MVA on PA 247 at US 6 was dispatched. (001)

18:07 Hours    Stations 25 and 31 along with EMS were dispatched for the MVA with no injuries but fluids down on the Lackawanna Valley Industrial Highway west bound off ramp to PA 247 at Exit 3. Rescue 25 arrived on scene and found a small amount of fluids down and no injuries. EMS arrived on scene and obtained 5 patient refusals. (002)
