08:03 Hours    Stations 25 and 31 were dispatched for the MVA with unknown injuries on the Lackawanna Valley Industrial Highway, US 6 eastbound past Exit 3. Captain 31 on scene stated one occupant, no injuries. Chief 25 arrived on scene and canceled rescue and requested EMS non-emergent for the patient refusal. (181)

16:21 Hours    Engines 25 and 31 were dispatched with Stations 20 and 22 for the automatic residential fire alarm at 590 Hilltop Road in Peckville. While responding Chief 20 was notified by communications the proper pass codes had been received from the residence. He held all units at station and went on the investigation.  (180)

Monday, December 24

10:50 Hours    Stations 25 and 31 were dispatched for the flooded basement at 320 Hill Street. EMS 25-B was at the station and responded across the street to find 8" to 10" inches of water in the basement. The Jessup DPW (Chief 25-B) also responded and placed the FD units back in service and handled the call.     (179)

Tuesday, December 18

11:44 Hours    Rescue 25 was requested to assist Stations 21/33 on a car fire with fuel leaking down Business Route 6. Rescue 25 pulled supplies from the county HAZMAT stockpile and responded to the drain in the area of Payless Shoes on Business 6 and created a dam and dike system to contain the spill and prevent product from entering the storm system. The Rescue also used its water to attempt to flush the drain showing an initial LEL of 4%. After flushing the LEL dropped to 2% prior to the HAZMAT team using dispersing agent.   (178)

05:24 Hours    Stations 25 and 31 were dispatched for the transformer arcing on Alberigi Drive 50' from PA 247. On arrival of Rescue 25 at the pole 0.3 mile from PA 247 there was nothing found. the JPD had transmitted the pole number to Communications and Rescue 25 went back into service. (177)

Friday, December 15

21:57 Hours    Rescue 25 was dispatched on the RIT assist for the structure fire at 634 East Lackawanna Avenue in Olyphant. The crews responded for an attic fire with entrapment but all occupants were out of the building. The RIT team was not activated during the incident. (176)

Tuesday, December 11

12:45 Hours   Stations 25 and 31 with EMS were dispatched to a two vehicle MVA at the corner of Grassy Island Avenue and Hill Street. The initial report was no injuries but one operator requested transport for an evaluation.  (174)

20:41 Hours    Stations 25 and 31 were dispatched for the smell of smoke in the vicinity of 500 Second Avenue. ON the investigation a piece of furniture was found burning at the rear of 522 Second Avenue.  (175)

 Sunday, December 9

20:28 Hours     Stations 25 and 31 were dispatched for a flooded basement with water coming in at 109 Center Street. Chief 25 and Brush 25 were on the investigation. On arrival the homeowner stated he had a plumber snake the sewer from his cleanout to the main and water was still backing up. There was no water in the basement on FD arrival. The Jessup DPW was notified and they would check on the situation.  (173)

Thursday, December 6

16:01 Hours    Engine 25 was dispatched on the Structure Box at 1535 Main Street, Peckville with Stations 20 and 22 and E 31 for the smell of something burning at the Bargain Finder. Command on scene could not find anything after E 25 took a position at a hydrant and had all units placed back into service. (172)

Sunday, December 2

21:14 Hours    Rescue 25 was dispatched with Station 59 and Ladder 58 on the structure box for the rekindle at the Fortuner Building in Mayfield. Command 59 held all units at their station while he went on the investigation. One engine from Area 59 responded for the small rekindle in two locations.  (171)

14:44 Hours    Rescue 25 was dispatched QRS to assist at a call at 362 Lane Street while BLS 25-8 was on another call and BLS 25-9 was out of service until arrival of BLS 21-9 for transport. The patient refused treatment and all units were placed back in service.  (170)

Friday, November 30

19:26 Hours    Rescue 25 was dispatched on the box as the RIT to Business Route 6 and Plank Road in Mayfield for the confirmed structure fire. On arrival the crew was re-assigned to water supply and fire attack. The Rescue laid in from the St. Rose Academy and supplied R59/L20. The crew advanced the master stream device to the fire scene and assisted with forcible entry and fire attack on the second alarm fire with numerous special calls.  (169)

Tuesday, November 27

12:53 Hours    Rescue 25 was requested by EMS on scene for a lift assist with a patient at 105 Grassy Island Avenue. A number of firefighters responded to the scene POV and assisted EMS with the call. The Rescue was placed in service without leaving the station.  (168)

Saturday, November 24

16:37 Hours     Engine 25 was special called by Command 26 for the natural gas leak at 301 Lackawanna Avenue for the 4 gas meter. Upon arrival the gas was shut off by UGI and the Engine was returned.  (167)

16:22 Hours    Engine 25 along with Stations 20, 22 and Engines 31 and 33 were dispatched on the automatic general fire alarm at the Lackawanna County Health Care at 108 Terrace Drive in Peckville. Command on scene held all units except Ladder 20 at Station. There was no fire.     (166)

Monday, November 19

06:33 Hours    Rescue 25 and Ambulance 25-9 responded to a two-car MVA with injuries at PA 247 in front of Holy Ghost Cemetery. On arrival the operator of one vehicle was still in the car; the other operator was out of the vehicle talking to the JPD and had no complaints. The driver and passenger doors from the first vehicle were jammed from the impact of the wreck. The rescue crew used the irons and the Amkus spreader to displace the doors to access the patient for removal from the vehicle.   (164)

10:36 Hours    Rescue 25 was dispatched on the structure box with Stations 58 and 59 for the general fire alarm at Mayfield Elementary Center, 501 Linden Street in Mayfield. Rescue 25 was canceled by command prior to leaving the station.  (165)

15:52 Hours    Engines 25 and 31 were dispatched on the structure box with Stations 20 and 22 to 815 Main Street, Peckville at the Valley View Field House for the general fire alarm. Chief 20 on scene reported nothing showing from the exterior. Engine 25 remained at station.   (163)

Saturday, November 10

17:38 Hours    Rescue 25 and 31 along with EMS were dispatched for a head-on motor vehicle accident at Church Street and Second Avenue. On arrival Chief 25-B found the accident was not head-on and there were no injuries but there were fluids down. Rescue 25 handled the fluids and EMS obtained refusals.   (162)

Tuesday, November 6

10:56 Hours    Rescue 25 was dispatched on the structure box to 612 Poplar Street, Mayfield with Stations 58 and 59. On arrival the Rescue crew was assigned to the Basement Division fire attack. The crew made the basement on the second attempt from a different access and encountered heavy fire. The crew was pulled out by command when the fire flashed over and ran the balloon frame construction to the attic. A second entry was made at Division 1 and later the crew worked Division 2 and 3.   (161)

Monday, November 5

01:13 Hours    Rescue 25 and 31 along with BLS 25-8 and 25-9 were dispatched for a vehicle over the embankment on US 6 about 1/2 mile east of Exit 3 westbound. Rescue 21 and BLS 21-8 and 9 were originally dispatched when it was reported the vehicle was in Area 21. On their arrival they requested Station 25 and 31 units. Prior to arrival of the Area 25 units the Rescue 21 crew had rappelled down the embankment to treat and package the patient. The Rescue 25 and 21 crews set up a 3 to 1 haul system and with the Rescue 31 crew began the haul up the 75 foot/ 40 degree slope embankment. The patient was brought up and placed in BLS 25-8 with the Lackawanna medics for transport to CMC.   (160)

16:39 Hours    Engine 25 was dispatched in place of E 26-2 on the structure box with Station 26 to 712 Susquehanna Avenue for the oven fire. Engine 25 was canceled by command prior to responding and placed back in service. (159)

Tuesday, October 30

13:10 Hours    Engine 25 was dispatched along with Stations 20 and 22 and Engine 31 for the automatic alarm at Outlook Pointe, 247 Sturgis Road. Command on scene held all units at there stations since a resident pulled the alarm. (158)

Friday, October 26

06:09 Hours    Rescue 25 and 31 along with EMS 25 were dispatched for the MVA car versus motorcycle at 43 Alberigi Drive. On arrival the crews found the driver of the motorcycle sitting on the curb next to the bike on its side. The operator of the car was not hurt and the operator of the bike was transported to CMC. Wednesday, October 24

23:25 Hours    Rescue 25 and 31 along with EMS 25 were dispatched for the MVA in the 300 block of Grassy Island Avenue at the request of the JPD. On arrival Chief 25 found the victim was sitting in the back of the police unit; there were no fluids down or debris on the roadway so command canceled the rescues. EMS on scene obtained an AMA from the patient and all units were placed back into service by command. (156)

Tuesday, October 23

05:35 Hours    Rescue 25 was dispatched on the structure box to 320 3rd Street with Stations 20, 22 and Rescue 23. Rescue 25 was requested by command to lay in to Squad 22 and the crew was then assigned as the RIT. The crew was reassigned by command to overhaul on Division 2 later into the incident  (154)

11:21 Hours    Rescue 25 and Rescue 31 along with EMS were dispatched to McLane for an unknown type industrial accident. While responding the crews were informed a worker had been hit by  a foam panel and had a leg injury. The Rescue 25 crew assisted EMS with patient packaging and transfer to the BLS unit. (155)

Tuesday, October 16

14:12 Hours    While on a special duty with Lackawanna County EMA at Sunnyside Road the crews heard the motor vehicle accident on US 6 just below them. Rescue 25 and BLS 25-8 responded and called the accident in to dispatch for dispatch of additional resources. On arrival the crews found three victims out of the car sitting at the guiderail. EMS triaged the patients and rescue assisted with packaging and removal to the BLS units along with stabilizing the vehicle, setting up fire protection and traffic control devices. Also responding as special called were BLS 21-9, BLS 29-9, Rescue 31, Engine 25, and Medic Units LA 9 and CH 1. All of the victims were placed into BLS units for transport to CMC Trauma in under 18 minutes. (152)

21:13 Hours    Stations 25 and 31 were dispatched for a flooded basement from a water pipe rupture at 18 Winthrop Street. The Jessup DPW was also notified and responded with a pump. All fire units were placed back in service.  (153)

Saturday, October 13

20:48 Hours    Stations 25 and 31 were dispatched for a vehicle into the residence at 405 Church Street. On arrival the occupant of the residence was complaining of back pain. The vehicle intruded into the house about 1 foot and pushed the couch across the room. EMS took charge of the patient. Rescue 25 and 31 crews used Ellis clamps and jacks to support the roof on the bearing wall.   (151)

17:52 Hours    Brush 25 and Ambulance 25-8 were requested by 26 Command for a standby for a possible assist with evacuations from residences due to flooding. Both units staged at the top of Acorn Drive. No evacuees were sent to the location.    (150)

Tuesday, October 9

17:41 Hours    Stations 25 and 31 were dispatched for a vehicle stalled in high water at the intersection of Hill and Basalyga Streets with a women trapped inside. On arrival the female had extricated the vehicle. Crews assisted the PD with traffic control until the water receded. (148)

18:14 Hours    Rescue 25 was dispatched to assisted the Jessup DPW on a road cave in at 808 Ward Street. DPW was on scene handling the incident.(149)

Sunday, October 7

23:42 Hours    Stations 25 and 31 were requested to an MVA at Church Street and Powell Avenue for a patient evaluation. JPD requested EMS only. On arrival Chief 25 found no fluids or debris down and requested EMS only to the scene. EMS transported the driver to Mid-Valley Hospital for an evaluation.   (147)

Sunday, September 30

18:03 Hours    Station 25 and 31 were dispatched for a vehicle into the house at 107 Erie Street. On arrival the occupants of the vehicle were out of the vehicle and had no complaints of injuries. The BLS crews obtained AMA's The SUV sustained moderate front end damage and the house had minor cosmetic foundation damage.  (146)

Thursday, September 27

18:57 Hours    Brush 25 was requested to assist the JPD on a possible suicidal woman along the power lines off of Breaker Street. The crew found a vehicle into a steel power pole with damage to the vehicle and not the pole.. EMS transported the operator. (145)

Tuesday, September 25

20:18 Hours    Stations 25 and 31 were dispatched to the area of 100 Lawler Drive for an unknown odor. Crews on arrival searched the area with the two four-gas meters and could not obtain any readings. Rescue 31 and the JPD went to the Scranton Cooperage and talked to an employee. They were processing barrels and the system overheated creating a vinegar type odor. Command placed all units back in service.  (144)

Sunday, September 23

06:22 Hours    Stations 25 and 31 were dispatched for a possible brush fire off of Breaker Street. On arrival Chief 25 found a 1 acre garbage dump on fire. Chief 25 requested Brush Tankers 26 and 26-1 to the scene for water supply. Brush 25 attacked the fire with 1" and 1 1/2" inch hand lines using Class A foam. The two Brush Tankers dropped two loads each of water mixed with Class A foam and B 25 used seven tanks of water. Engine 25 was the fill engine and Ambulance 25-8 provided re-hab for the crews.  (143)

11:31 Hours    Stations 25 and 31 were dispatched for a natural gas leak from a ruptured pipe at 310 Third Avenue. Chief 31 on scene found a ruptured water line and canceled all units.  (142)

Friday, September 21

09:45 Hours    Engine 25 was dispatched with Engine 31, Ladder 20 and Squad 22 for the automatic fire alarm at 247 Sturgis Road, Outlook Pointe Treasures, in Peckville. Command 20 on scene was informed it was a false alarm and all units were held at station.  (138)

12:06 Hours    Rescue 25 and 31 and BLS 25-9 and 25-8 were dispatched for the MVA car into tree on PA 247 1/4 mile south of Marshwood Road. On arrival of the crews the both patients were self-extricated and the first patient was found sitting in the open trunk and the other partially in the back seat. Rescue assisted with patient packaging and rendered the vehicle safe.  (139)

18:26 Hours    Rescue 25 was dispatched on the structure box to Area 59 at 814 Hill Street for the report of smoke in the area. Command on scene found a resident had just started his furnace creating the smoke condition; there was no fire and Command returned Rescue 25 which was already enroute.  (140)

20:43 Hours    Rescue 25 was requested to relocate to Station 60 while they were operating on a second alarm structure fire at Mermelstein's on Business Route 6. The Rescue was later sent to the scene to relieve the operating crews on scene.   (141)

Thursday, September 20

20:52 Hours    Rescue 25 was dispatched as per the SRN for the Structure Box at 227 South Valley Avenue in Area 26. The crew was assigned as the RIT and also used the on-board cascade system. The RIT crew was not needed and returned by Command.  (137)

Monday, September 17

7:55 Hours       Stations 25 and 31 were dispatched for a report of smoke in the area behind Jessica's Eatery on Breaker Street. Brush 25 and Chief 25-B responded and could not finding a fire. The call was listed as unfounded and all units were placed back in service.  (135)

16:45 Hours    Rescue 25 was requested by the Jessup PD to assist with a possible forced entry at 1232 Waddell Street. On arrival the PD were able to make entrance and Rescue was canceled.  (136)

Sunday, September 16

06:47 Hours    Stations 25 and 31 were dispatched for the automatic fire alarm at 10 Hill Street, Cousin's Convenient Mart. On arrival Chief 25 was informed by store personnel that there was a power drop in the area and then the alarm sounded. There was no fire. Chief 25 investigated and returned all units.  (134)

15:49 Hours    Rescue 25 was requested by BLS 25-8 for a patient lift assist at 318 Dolph Street. Brush 25 responded in place of Rescue 25 to assist EMS. (133)

Thursday, September 13

20:56 Hours    Stations 25 and 31 were dispatched on the automatic alarm to 1232 Mid-Valley Drive at the Muskoskelatal Tissue Bank for the general fire alarm. On arrival the supervisor advised the FD that the alarm was showing at Air Handler Unit #4 again. The Chief investigated the unit and found no problem. The alarm was taken out of service by the company and all units were put back in service. (132)

Wednesday, September 12

23:13 Hours    Stations 25 and 31 were dispatched for an unknown odor in the basement at 421 Front Street. The call was at Rear 421 Front Street. On arrival the crew detected a steam like odor coming from the basement. The owner stated she had started the furnace for the first time about one hour prior to noticing the smell. The Rescue 25 crew checked the residence with the four gas meters and obtained 0 readings. The thermal imager showed the heating pipes were not getting hot. The fire department advised the owner to shut down the unit and have it checked.   (131)

Tuesday, September 11

00:31 Hours    Stations 25 and 31 were dispatched for the report of wires burning in the residence at 307 Dolph Street. Chief 25 A on scene found a de-humidifier in the basement overheated and the wires burned. The unit was removed from the residence and the home vented.  (130)

Sunday, September 9

08:53 Hours     A structural box, pull station, was received from the Laurels at Mid-Valley at 85 Sturgis Road in Peckville. Station 20, Station 22 and Engines 25 and 31 were dispatched on the alarm. Command 20 on scene was notified of the false alarm and held all units at station.   (129)

Saturday, September 8

2:49 Hours       EMS and Rescue 25 were dispatched along with Rescue 31 to an MVA with injuries on PA 247 near the “Horseshoe Curve”. On arrival the crews found and overturned passenger car with one victim sitting on the guide rail. He stated he was alone in the vehicle. On the primary search another victim was found trapped in the overturned vehicle. Chief 25 B in Command requested two additional Rescues and two additional BLS units and one ALS unit. Rescue 21 and Rescue 29 were dispatched along with BLS 21-9 and 29-9. BLS 22-9 was dispatched and placed on stand-by at the scene for rescuers. Crews from all three rescue units worked to free the trapped female victim. As other crews checked the area for other victims a third victim was found over the embankment approximately 30 feet down. Command requested an additional Engine to conduct a search of both sides of the highway for approximately 300 yards. No other victims were found. The victims were transported to various hospitals were the males were admitted but the female succumbed to her injuries. The female victim was the daughter of a Station 25 firefighter. Station 25 wishes to express its thanks to all assisting agencies both during the incident and during the past few days.   (127)

12:38 Hours     BLS 25-9 along with Rescue 25 and Rescue 31 were dispatched for a 2 vehicle MVA at the corner of Church Street and Third Avenue. The BLS crews obtained refusals from the victims and the Rescue crew did a broom and shovel clean-up of the debris.  (128)

Friday, September 7

18:56 Hours     EMS 25 was dispatched to 1225 Mid-Valley Drive, Fastenall for an industrial accident. A rack of auto parts had fallen on a worker. EMS 25 requested Rescue 25 to be dispatched for the possible assist. On EMS arrival the victim had self- extricated from the debris and the EMS and Rescue crews packaged the patient for transport.   (126)

09:00 Hours     Another structure box for a pull station at the Laurels, Sturgis Road in Peckville was transmitted dispatching Engines 25 and 31, Squad 22 and Ladder 20. Prior to units going enroute Communications received the proper pass codes from the facility and Command held all units at there stations.  (125)

Wednesday, September 5

06:56 Hours    Stations 25 and 31 were dispatched for a car fire at Station 25. Jessup PD was in the parking lot of Jessup Veteran's Memorial Stadium when a car stopped that was smoking from the engine compartment. The PD called in the fire and the operator of the car told the officer he was taking the car to the garage and had to get to work and then drove off.  (123)

15:08 Hours    Lackawanna County Communications transmitted the structure box for a pull station at the Laurels, Sturgis Road in Peckville dispatching Engines 25 and 31, Squad 22 and Ladder 20. Prior to units going enroute Communications received the proper pass codes from the facility and Command held all units at there stations.  (124)

Sunday, September 2

12:30 Hours     EMS 25-9, Rescue 25 and Brush 25 responded for the report of an ATV accident on PA 247 across from Jessup Auto; Station 29 Fire and EMS were originally dispatched on the call to PA 348 across from Jessup Auto Parts in Mount Cobb and BLS 29-9 had continued to the scene. After getting more information the Lackawanna County Communications Center determined the incident was in Jessup. The crews responded to the cul-de-sac at the end of Sunnyside Road and found civilians had moved the juvenile victim to that location from further down the dirt road. The rescue and brush crews assisted with patient packaging and transfer to the BLS for transport to Community Medical Center.  (122)

15:49 Hours    Brush 25 was requested by Chief 31 for a tire and rubbish fire off of Breaker Street. The unit responded and extinguished the fire. (121)

Monday, August 27

12:13 Hours    Engine 25 was dispatched with Ladder 20, Squad 22 and Engine 31 on the cross-response for the structure alarm at 100 Railroad Street in Peckville at the Blakely High-rise. Command on scene reported a faulty detector and canceled all units.  (119)

19:20 Hours    Rescue 25 was dispatched as part of the structure box for 1300 Old Plank Road at Saint Rose Academy along with Stations 58 and 59. Chief 59A on scene canceled Rescue 25.   (120)

Friday, August 24

7:53 Hours       Stations 25 and 31 were dispatched to Scranton Cooperage, 1264 Mid-Valley Drive for an automatic alarm. As it responded, Rescue 25 was notified the alarm company called back with a report of a false alarm. Rescue 25 continued in non-emergent on the investigation. (118)

Thursday, August 23

08:00 Hours     Stations 25 and 31 were dispatched to 1325 Mellow Drive at Material Tech and Logistics for the automatic alarm. On arrival the Rescue 25 was notified by the plant manager of a malfunction in the alarm and there was no fire. The owner put the alarm out of service with the alarm company until repairs could be made.  (116)

17:05 Hours    Stations 25 and 31 were dispatched for the fire alarm at 1264 Mid-Valley Drive, Scranton Cooperage. Chief 31 on-scene reported nothing showing. Rescue 25 arrived 1 minute latter and found a smoke condition on Side C. Ladder 20 was special called on the report of smoke. The rescue crew made entry and had a light to moderate black smoke condition but was unable to initially locate the fire. The fire had nearly self-extinguished itself in the paint booth through use of the chemical extinguishing system. The crew vented the building and used a water can on the remaining fire.    (117)

Tuesday, August 21

08:11 Hours    Stations 25 and 31 were dispatched for a single vehicle MVA with injuries on PA 247 100 feet north of the Jefferson Township Line. On arrival the pick-up truck was on its side and the operator was sitting on a tree stump. The BLS crew checked the operator who refused medical transport. There were no hazards since the vehicle was off the roadway and there were no fluids down. All units went back into service after the patient signed AMA.  (114)

19:09 Hours    Rescue 25 was dispatched as part of the structure box to 8 Scott Road in Blakely for a report of black smoke from Mustang Motors from a possible chimney fire. Chief 22 reported smoke from the chimney and canceled all units except Squad 22 and Ladder 20.  (115)

Monday, August 20

12:01 Hours    Stations 25 and 31 along with both 26 Brush Tankers were requested to return to the pit fire from last night to work with the Borough DPW and a dozer to dig out and extinguish the fire. Crews worked for over 4 hours to extinguish the fire. (113)

Sunday, August 19

22:11 Hours    Stations 25 and 31 were dispatched along the Pump House Road for a trash fire in a large stripping pit. The scene was only accessible by four wheeled drive vehicles. Brush tankers 26-1, 26-2, 60 and 67 were requested. Crews were on the scene for over three hours but required a tracked dozer to dig out the fire. Due to the hazards command ordered all units out of the area until daylight. (112)

Saturday, August 18

00:47 Hours    An automatic alarm for 1232 Mid-Valley Drive was struck for Area 9. This was the same location of the alarm on August 18. Chief 25 on-scene found nothing showing from the exterior. He investigated the air handler unit that was the earlier problem with a crew from E26-4 dispatched on the box. After determining there was no fire he returned all units and had the facility owner take the alarm out of service with the alarm company until it can be checked by maintenance.(110)

18:08 Hours    Rescue 25 was dispatched in place of Rescue 23 that was on an MVA as part of the structure box for the limited at Viewmont Mall. Rescue 23 went available and responded, Rescue 25 continued in as the RIT. Command reported the signage for the limited was burning and extended into the structural components. Rescue 25 was out for 1 hour and 22 minutes. (111)

Friday, August 17

11:27 Hours    Rescue 25, Engine 25, Ambulance 25-8 and Chief 25 responded on the structure box dispatch for the working structure fire to 304A Lawler Drive with rest of the assignment. On arrival Chief 25 was informed by the JPD the fire in the stove was out and after turning off the power to the unit and finding no extension returned all units except for Rescue 25. The unit was removed from the residence and a short in the wiring was found. (109)

Wednesday, August 15

23:32 Hours    Stations 25 and 31 were dispatched for a brush fire off of Breaker Street. On arrival Brush 25 found a small area of woods waste smoldering. The Brush 25 crew used a booster line for extinguishment and overhaul.  (108)

18:27 Hours    Stations 25 and 31 were dispatched for the railroad tie on fire at Constitution and Delaware. On arrival Chief 25 found a small railroad tie next to the viaduct on the rail bed burning from a small brush fire. Engine 31 extinguished the fire with a watercan.  (105)

18:45 Hours    Stations 25 and 31 were dispatched for the general fire alarm at the Muskoskelatal Tissue Foundation (MTF) on Mid-Valley Drive. On arrival of Chief 25 nothing was showing and he had all units not on the road to stand-by at station and Engine 31 to come in at a reduced rate. On an investigation the alarm was showing trouble in an air handler unit. The unit was checked and no fire was found. The facility placed the alarm out of service until the air duct detector can be repaired. (106)

23:08 Hours    Stations 25 and 31 were dispatched at the request of the JPD on scene for a motorcycle vs. deer accident on PA 247 at the Park and Ride for a patient evaluation. On arrival of Chief 25 there were no fluids down and no debris and the patient was ambulatory . Chief 31 had canceled Rescue 31 on dispatch and Chief 25 held Rescue 25 at station. Saturday, August 11

23:19 Hours    Rescues 25 and 31 along with Ambulance 25-8 and 25-9 were dispatched for a vehicle rollover at PA 247 and the Mid-Valley Industrial Park Entrance. The location was PA 247 and Alberigi Drive. On arrival Chief 31 found the vehicle on its roof in the ditch. All occupants had self-extricated. Rescue 25 and BLS 25-8 responded non-emergent for the patient refusals. The crews assisted the tow with righting the vehicle and vehicle removal.    (104)

19:27 Hours    Station 25 was dispatched for a quad accident on PA 247 200 yards south of the intersection with Marshwood Road. 17:20 Hours    Stations 25 and 31 were dispatched for the MVA, car into the house at 912 Church Street. On arrival the car was on the porch and had taken out two structural supports and displaced part of the structural door frame. The Rescue crew provided first aid and packaging of the driver, the lone occupant and assisted EMS with placement in the BLS unit. One of the support posts impaled into the vehicle through the windshield over the passenger seats front and back. The Rescue 25 crewed placed a support on the porch and placed the door frame in alignment to secure the entry point.   (98)

18:11 Hours    Rescue 25 was dispatched on the QRS assist while Ambulance 25-8 and 25-9 were both out on other incidents for the report of the man down in the roadway in the 300 block of Hill Street. 15:57 Hours    Stations 25 and 31 were dispatched to the area of Winton Road and Railroad street for a smoke report. On arrival Brush 25 and Chief 25B found debris near a shed burning on a hill behind 1395 Winton Road. The Brush crew and Station 31 crew extinguished the fire and removed the debris pile from the area near the shed. (86)

20:30 Hours    Stations 25 and 31 were dispatched to the previous area for a smoke report. On arrival the Brush Crew and Chief 25 found the shed from the previous area burning. The shed was a former ammunition bunker and was constructed of heavy gauge steel with three layers of 1" X 8" lumber on the interior. The Brush 25 crew and the Rescue 31 crew used hand tools to remove the lumber from the interior of the bunker and used over 700 gallons of water for extinguishment of the interior fire in the 4' X 6' X 6' shed. 21:25 Hours    Station 25 was requested by Jessup PD for use of Pug 25 on an investigation in the area of the 1st dam off of Sunnyside Road. The crews responded and provided transport and lighting but nothing was found in the area. (88)

22:59 Hours    Stations 25 and 31 were dispatched for the activated CO Detector at 134 Hill Street. The report was no symptoms on scene and the crews responded non-emergent. The Rescue 25 crew checked the residence with the Bacharach and Solaris meters and no reading were found. The homeowner stated he would replace the detector. (89)

17:05 Hours    Stations 25 and 31 were dispatched for the automatic fire alarm at Dempsey's Textiles, 1200 Mid-Valley Drive. The manager on scene stated there was a power outage in the area due to the storm and he was unaware the alarm had been activated. After the interior and exterior investigation nothing was found and all units were placed in service. (83)

00:54 Hours    Stations 25 and 31 along with Lackawanna Ambulance ALS were dispatched to the Casey Highway, US 6 for a vehicle rollover. On arrival the driver was sitting in the operators seat. Rescue assisted with patient packaging and removal from the vehicle and debris clean-up over 250 feet.  (80)

23:25 Hours    Rescue 25 was dispatched on the assist with a HAZMAT incident for Station 26 at Insigaform at 919 Stanton Road in Olyphant. A security guard on-scene found a barrel smoking. Monday, June 25

22:04 Hours    Rescue 25 was placed on stand-by for a possible assist to BLS 25-8 on a HAZMAT call at Keystone Printing. A male had ammonia vapors splashed in his face when the vapors explosively released. The victim was outside and Chief 25 assisted him until arrival of EMS. The rescue was placed back into service as the vapors had dissipated.  (72)

22:35 Hours    Station 25 and 31 were dispatched for a brush fire along Breaker Street. On arrival Chief 25 located the fire in the mine reclamation area. A large debris pile of branches, logs and scrub was on fire. Brush 26 and the Jessup Borough DPW back hoe were requested to assist on the call.  (73)

Monday, June 18

01:28 Hours    Stations 20 and 22 along with Rescues 25 and 23 were dispatched on the commercial fire alarm to 200 Third Street in Blakely. Chief 22A was on scene with nothing showing and canceled all units. (69)

08:29 Hours    The above alarm for 200 Third Street was dispatched again. Chief 22 B on the air had all units hold at station because of the alarm malfunction. He went in on the investigation; there was no fire and all units were placed back in service. (70)

20:45 Hours    Engine 25 was dispatched on the alarm in place of Engine 26-6 OOS for the structure call at 144 North Point Drive in Olyphant. The engine was returned on arrival from the mulch pile out side the residence that was on fire. (71)

Sunday, June 17

14:32 Hours    Stations 25 and 31 along with 25 EMS were dispatched for a vehicle rollover on PA 247 at the Park and Ride. On arrival the wreck was actually at the end of Sunnyside Road at the cul-de-sac. Rescue 25 crew stabilized the vehicle and completed extrication of the driver who was the lone occupant of the vehicle and assisted EMS with packaging and removal to the BLS unit. Rescue 21 was also requested with there Quad by EMS 25 on the notification the incident was at the end of Sunnyside Road. (68)

Friday, June 15

05:04 Hours    Stations 25 and 31 were dispatched for a vehicle in the water of the 1st Dam on Sunnyside Road. Chief 25, Rescue 25, Brush 25 with the Pug and BLS 25-8 responded to the pump house staging area. There was no response from Station 31. Chief 25 went with the Pug to the scene and determined everyone was out of the vehicle and there was no need for a fire department response. (67)

Thursday, June 14

17:34 Hours    Stations 25 and 31 were dispatched for a report of a shed on fire in the rear of 1012 Constitution Avenue. On arrival Chief 25 found a small pool shed burning under a large evergreen tree with involvement of the tree. Engine 31 extinguished the fire with a 1 3/4" hand line. The shed was about 2/3 consumed with fire on arrival of the first units. (66)

Tuesday, June 12

12:15 Hours    Stations 25 and 31 were dispatched to 113 Center Street for a carbon monoxide detector activation. Chief 25 on the response asked if symptoms were present on scene and was advised no. He had units respond non-emergent. On arrival the occupants stated the alarm started sounding about 10 minutes prior to calling 911 and the unit was seven to eight years old. Rescue 25 crew assessed the area with the CO meter and got 0-2 readings. The occupant was advised to replace the detector and all units went available.  (64)

21:02 Hours    Stations 25 and 31 were dispatched for a report of three vehicles stuck in the water on the flooded street with one vehicle occupied. On arrival Chief 25 found the water had receded and there was no entrapment. All units put back into service.  (65)

Friday, June 8

12:45 Hours    Rescues 25 and 31 along with EMS were dispatched for a single vehicle MVA- vehicle rollover along Mellow Drive. On arrival Rescue 25 and BLS 25-9 found the driver out of the vehicle and the food service truck over the embankment about 10 feet. The Rescue 25 crew assisted EMS with patient packaging and placement in the Ambulance 25-9 and after removal of the vehicle removed the debris from the side of the roadway. (63)

21:26 Hours    Stations 25 and 31 were dispatched on an MVA- vehicle versus deer on US 6 eastbound, between Exits 3 and 4. The crews found the location in Area 21; they were contacted and stated for Station 25 to handle the call. On arrival Chief 25 found the driver complaining of head and neck pain. There was no debris or fluids on the roadway. Rescue assisted EMS with patient packaging and transfer to the BLS unit. (60)

6:59 Hours    Stations 25 was dispatched on the cross-response structure box in Area 20 at 1472 Quinn's Market. Prior to responding all companies (L20, Sq22, E25 and E31) were placed back into service as per Chief 20. Donuts in the fryer had burned setting off the alarm. (59)

Saturday, May 26

1:44 Hours       Stations 25 and 31 were dispatched for the MVA- vehicle rollover at the corner of Church and Lane Streets. On arrival of the first responders the accident was approximately 1/4 mile from Church Street on Lane Street. The driver had self-extricated and the crews conducted a debris clean-up over the 250 foot scene. The SUV had shattered a telephone pole before flipping and sliding on its roof for 200 feet. (58)

Wednesday, May 23

1227 Hours      Structural Box for 1232 Mid-Valley Drive was dispatched for Stations 25 and 31 and Ladder 20, Squad 22 and 21 and 29 EMS (25 EMS out on another call). Chief 25-B on-scene found nothing showing and workers working on the sprinkler system. Chief 25 and 25-B did an investigation. All units were placed back into service and Chief 25 stayed on scene until the system was reset.  (57)

11:18 Hours    Stations 25 and 31 were dispatched for a small grass fire along Breaker Street. Chief 25-A on scene of a 1/2 acre grass fire. Brush 25 handled the call and extinguished the fire with a 1 inch line. (56)

Friday, May 18

10:40 Hours    Stations 25 and 31 were dispatched to a vehicle rollover on US 6, the Lackawanna Valley Industrial Highway just west of the PA 247 overpass. The pick-up truck had been hit and rolled an unknown number of times. One occupant was out of the vehicle on arrival and the other was entrapped in the door. Station 26 had been originally dispatched and Engine 26-4 began the extrication prior to 25/31 arrival. The first patient was transported ALS by 25-9 and the second after removal from the vehicle ALS by Lackawanna Ambulance.  (54)

11:18 Hours    While on the previous incident Stations 25 and 31 were requested to assist the JPD/PSP on a standby for a business on Alberigi Drive. Monday, May 14

02:36 Hours    Stations 25 and 31 were dispatched for the smell of natural gas in the residence. Chief 25 arrived on-scene and found the occupants had evacuated the residence and could not detect an odor. Rescue 25 arrived on scene and used the 4-gas meter to determine there was no leak and apparently the pilot light had gone out. Chief 25 advised the resident not to use the stove until maintenance checked it and he put in a call to county housing maintenance to check the system.  (53)

Saturday, April 7

08:20 Hours     Stations 25 and 31 were dispatched for a mattress on fire on the porch at 130 Powell Avenue. On arrival Chief 25 found the smoldering mattress on the ground where it had been dragged by a passerby who saw it burning on the porch. The occupants had been smoking and set the mattress on fire in the bedroom and dragged it outside. She was advised she should have called 911 and evacuated the residence since the mattress could have gotten caught in the doorway ( the only egress from the apartment) and flashed over. The Engine 25 crew used a 1 2" line for extinguishment. (45)

Wednesday, April 4

07:27 Hours     Rescue 25 and Ambulance 25-9 were dispatched as part of the Lackawanna County Technical Rescue Team at the request of Luzerne County to stand-by for a possible aircraft emergency at the Wilkes-Barre Scranton International Airport. A jet was experiencing landing gear problems and landed safely. (43)

22:11 Hours     Stations 25 and 31 were dispatched for an unknown type fire along Sunnyside Road. The caller was on US 6 and could see flames. It had been raining for the previous four hours. Chief 31-B arrived on-scene of an illegal campfire off of the cul-de-sac at the end of Sunnyside Road. People there were extinguishing the fire on his arrival. They received a verbal warning on violation of the Borough Open Burn Ordinance. (44)

12:53 Hours     Stations 25 and 31 were dispatched at the request of 20 Command for a stand-by at Station 20 while they were operating with the Police and SWAT on a barricaded subject. Prior to responding the subject was apprehended and Command canceled the companies. (42)

20:21 Hours     Stations 25 and 31 were dispatched for the multi-vehicle MVA with injuries at the corner of Church Street and Clarkson Avenue. On arrival Lt 25B notified all units that there were three vehicles and that two were parked with no occupants and there was one injury on scene. Rescue 25 assisted Ambulance 25-9 with packaging the patient and then transported while the other crews cleaned up the fluids and debris at the scene. (41)

06:05 Hours     Rescue 25 was dispatched along with Engines 67-5, 56-1 and R15 to assist Station 29 on a chimney fire at 100 Jefferson Boulevard in the Township. Prior to leaving the station all mutual aid units were canceled by 29 Command. (39)

09:12 Hours     Stations 25 and 31 were dispatched on the investigation for a smell of wires burning at Station 31 in the Senior Citizen’s Center. On arrival the crews found an overheated desk lamp; there was no fire.  (40)

10:56 Hours     Stations 25 and 31 were called back for a re-kindle of debris from the fire the proceeding evening. The fire was located in the basement of the structure and the Jessup Borough backhoe was special called to assist the units in removing the debris for extinguishments. 20:23 Hours     Stations 25 and 31 were dispatched to the working structure fire along Breaker Street. On arrival of the first officer the unoccupied structure was fully involved. Crews from E25 and R25 laid 1,300 feet of 5” supply line and over 500’ of attack lines along with master streams to extinguish the fire. (37)

17:41 Hours     Stations 25 and 31 were dispatched for the one vehicle MVA, car into light pole on US 6 between Exits 2 and 3. On arrival Chief 25 found one male in the vehicle complaining of back and neck pain. There was significant intrusion by the pole into the left side of the vehicle. The driver spoke little English and was not able to communicate with the crews in depth. Rescue stabilized the vehicle and forced the passenger door and lowered the seatback and assisted EMS with patient packaging and removal. (34)

09:21 Hours     Rescue 25 was dispatched for a CO Detector activation at 329 Third Avenue with no symptoms on scene. The crew found 0 levels in the residence and advised the homeowner to replace the unit.  (31)

15:09 Hours     Ladder 20, Squad 22, Engine 31, Rescue 25 and EMS were dispatched for the report of a working structure fire at rear 341 Maple Street in Peckville. On arrival the single family 2-½ story wood frame had heavy fir showing. Rescue 25 blitzed the structure with its deck gun and the crew assisted in advancing attack lines. The fire went to two alarms and Engine 29 was special called to cover Area 25 as Engine 25 had responded on the second alarm. (32)

06:31 Hours     Dispatched with Stations 20, 22 and 31 to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, the Haband Company for an automatic alarm. On arrival the sprinkler system had contained a pallet fire on the interior of the building. The Rescue 25 crew assisted with extinguishments. (28)

12:36 Hours     Station 25 and 31 along with Ladder 20, Squad 22 and 21-9 were dispatched to the automatic alarm at 1237 Mid-Valley Drive, Air Gas, for the automatic fire alarm. Chief 31-B on scene found burnt toast set off the alarm and there was no fire. All units were placed back in service. (29)

15:16 Hours     Dispatched with Stations 20, 22 and 31 for the automatic alarm at 108 Terrace Drive, the Lackawanna County Health Care Center. The facility called back and stated it was a false trip of the system and there was no fire. Command held all units and went on the investigation.  (27)

16:11 Hours     Dispatched at the request of Lackawanna County Emergency Management Agency for HAZMAT supplies out of the stockpile for a spill in Area 60. Prior to loading the supplies the request was canceled. (26)

07:02 Hours     Brush 25 responded for a pumping detail at 326 Lane Street. Approximately 5” of water was removed from the basement. (25)

Wednesday, February 28

21:06 Hours     Stations 25 and 31 were dispatched for a smoke report at 417 Church Street. On arrival the crews found a dryer vent to the outside releasing steam in the cold air. Command returned all units to service after advising the owner to change the location of the vent. (24)

Saturday, February 24

01:50 Hours     Rescue 25 and Brush 25 were dispatched to assist the PD on forcible entry into a home with water running from the inside to the outside due to a broken pipe. The crews forced entry and found a pipe between the first and second floors to the bathtub had ruptured and collapsed the first floor ceiling. The crew turned off the water service at the meter and had PPL respond to cut power to the house due to the wet conditions of the walls and ceilings. (23)

Sunday, February 18

14:00 Hours     Rescue 25 was dispatched to assist BLS 25-9 with manpower to remove an injured sledded from the middle of the Veteran’s Memorial Field, 300 Hill Street due to the deep snow conditions. (22)

Friday, February 16

16:20 Hours     Stations 25 and 31 were dispatched to 1320 Moosic Lake Road, Jessup Auto, for the gas leak. The gas company was on-scene and Chief 31 returned all units. (21)

Wednesday, February 14

14:00 Hours     At the request of the Lackawanna County Emergency Management Agency, Station 25 was opened as an emergency evacuation center for drivers evacuated from US 6 due to heavy snow conditions. Rescue 25, Brush 25 and BLS 25-9 were used to check on motorists on the road and bring them to the evacuation center. (20)

Monday, February 12

09:27 Hours     Rescue 25 and Engine 31 were dispatched with Ladder 20 and Squad 22 for the automatic fire alarm at 100 Railroad Street, Peckville, the Blakely High-rise. Command on-scene held all units at the station, a resident had pulled the alarm and there was no fire. (19)

Saturday, February 10

02:09 Hours     Stations 25 and 31 were dispatched for the MVA rollover along Breaker Street with unknown injuries or entrapment. Chief 25 arrived on scene to find the Beretta on its roof with no occupants in or around the vehicle. The crews were requested to respond non-emergent to assist with scene clean up after removal of the vehicle. (17)

14:43 Hours     Stations 25 and 31 were dispatched for the two vehicle MVA with injuries at the Park-N-Ride on PA 247. On arrival the vehicles were off of the road and all occupants were out of the vehicles. One operator requested EMS for treatment. The crews used absorbents for fluids down. (18)

Wednesday, February 7

14:07 Hours     Rescue 25 was dispatched to 206 Erie Street to check CO levels in the residence. A contractor was on scene working on the heating system and found deterioration around the unit and request readings. No CO was found. (16)

Tuesday, February 6

16:48 Hours     Stations 25 and 31 along with EMS were dispatched for then possible vehicle fire on US 6 eastbound between Exits 2 and 3. Lt. 25-B was on scene of the vehicle with the blown radiator house. The vehicle was leaving as he arrive don scene. All 25 units held at Station. (15)

Monday, January 29

11:39 Hours     Rescue 25 was dispatched to Area 59 for the smoke report-structure box at 628 Hill Street. The Mayfield Police found the oil burner had backfired and Command held all units at station. (14)

Wednesday, January 24

16:30 Hours     Rescue 25 was dispatched on the structure box to Area 59 for the electrical fire at 304 Gorham Street. The Rescue reported to staging as the RIT and was returned by Command. (13)

Tuesday, January 23

11:32 Hours     Ladder 20, Squad 22, Engine 31 and Rescue 25 along with EMS were dispatched on the structure box to 100 Railroad Street, the Blakely High-rise. Command on scene reported burnt toast set off the alarm and returned all units to service. (12)

Monday, January 22

16:19 Hours     Stations 25 and 31 were dispatched for an MVA at Mellow Drive and Moosic Lake Road with injuries. On arrival Command found one vehicle with the driver out of the vehicle complaining of pain. The crew assisted EMS with patient care. There were no fluids or debris down and Command returned the Rescue to service units.  (11)

Sunday, January 21

00:42 Hours     Station 29 was originally dispatched for the rollover MVA with injuries about ½ mile from the “Y” on Moosic Lake Road. On there arrival they determined the call was in Area 25 and had Stations 25 and 31 dispatched. There were no injuries and they handled the call. Chief 25 had all units return. (9)

15:39 Hours     Rescue 25 was dispatched on the structure box to 311 Main Street, Blakely, the Turkey Hill Store for smoke in the freezer unit. On arrival Command found a malfunctioning light fixture in the freezer and returned Rescue 25.  (10)

Friday, January 19

23:50 Hours     Rescue 25 was dispatched to assist EMS and the JPD on a possible forcible entry for a welfare check at 305 Grassy Island Avenue. While removing the door to the residence the occupant came to the door, she had been sleeping and did not hear the crews outside. (8)

Wednesday, January 17

15:33 Hours     Stations 25 and 31 were dispatched for the MVA at Hill and Breaker Streets. On arrival found a two vehicle MVA with no injuries. Rescue 25 used absorbents for the fluids down. (7)

Sunday, January 14

03:20 Hours     Stations 25 and 31 were dispatched for the MVA with entrapment and injuries on PA 247 approximately 1 mile from the “Y”. Rescue 25 arrived on scene at the incident, about ¼ mile south of the intersection with Marshwood Road. Rescue 25 utilized the hydraulic tool and sawzalls to remove the victim from the vehicle that was against a tree and in the creek. (6)

21:13 Hours     Rescue 25 was dispatched on the structure box to Area 59 as the RIT to the Golden Karat, 1311 Route 6 Mayfield. The Rescue was canceled by command on-scene, false trip of the automatic alarm. (5)

07:23 Hours     Rescue 25 was dispatched to assist Area 29 on the automatic alarm at 100 Little Lake Road in Jefferson Township. Rescue 25 was canceled while enroute by command. There was a false activation of the alarm. (4)

Monday, January 8

18:29 Hours     Rescue 25 was dispatched on the structure box to Area 59 as the RIT to the Golden Karat, 1311 Route 6 Mayfield. The Rescue was canceled by command on-scene, false trip of the automatic alarm. (3)

Wednesday, January 3

13:34 Hours     Rescue 25 responded as part of the Lackawanna County Rescue Task Force for the report of a man trapped in an excavation at Thomson Direct, 3331 Main Street in Ransom. Rescue 25 reported to staging and was assigned to assist with the transfer of the subject from the excavation scene to the BLS unit. (2)

21:25 Hours     Brush 25 was dispatched to assist area 27 on a small brush fire in the 1000 block of Martarano Drive. On arrival the crew found an unattended small campfire. Brush 25 extinguished the fire with 1 tank water. (1)
